Some critics have accused President Kennedy of falling short of his "idealistic rhetoric (Legacy, 2013). " But despite the many mistakes in his political career, JFK has preserved his legendary persona--all due to his mastery of writing...and maybe a little help from mass media.
During this unit, my class will engage in a comprehensive study of John F. Kennedy's use of figurative language and rhetoric. We will also broaden our understanding of what speech is, and how a writer might create a voice, or persona, to project toward the reader or audience. These two conversations will merge and help us answer the question of whether his Inaugural Address was effective.
